On the 24th of March, something truly special happened right here in Sydney. Against the iconic backdrop of the Opera House, dancers from across Sydney came together for a Rueda Flashmob, joining a global celebration of Cuban dance.
Beautifully organised by Kelvin and Angelica from House of Salsa, the event brought together dancers of all levels to share in the energy, rhythm, and connection that make Rueda de Casino so unique.
What made this moment even more powerful was that we weren’t dancing alone. Across the world, 144 Rueda teams participated on the same day, all connected through music, rueda, and a shared spirit of collaboration.
Each team brought its own flavour to the event, creating a unique rueda vibe and theme, from styling and music choices to the energy and personality of each circle. This diversity made the global flashmob even more special, showcasing how the same dance can be expressed in so many different and creative ways.
I had the opportunity to participate in the event myself, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience. There’s something truly special about dancing rueda in such an iconic location, surrounded by passionate dancers and sharing that moment with people across the world.
The atmosphere was electric. Circles formed, calls echoed, and dancers moved in synchrony, creating that unmistakable rueda magic—where teamwork, awareness, and communication come together in a dynamic and playful way. There were smiles everywhere, a few laughs when things got tangled (as they always do 😄), and a strong sense of community throughout.
A big thank you to Kelvin and Angelica for organising such a memorable event, and to everyone who participated and supported it.

We’re proud to be part of such a passionate and growing salsa community, both locally and globally.
And if you haven’t tried Rueda yet… this is your sign to jump in.
See you in the circle 💃🕺 JR
